Amy Miller
Educational ConsultantAmy
Miller received her undergraduate degree from Lawrence University in Appleton,
Wisconsin and her Masters Degree in education from DePaul University in
Chicago. Currently she works full-time for the Chicago Public Schools as a Reading
Specialist. Though she has worked in both general and special education, her primary
interest lies in helping students with difficulties in reading and writing.
Amy is active
as a volunteer for the Lawrence University admissions office, making phone calls
to local prospective and admitted students to answer questions and act as a personal
contact at the school. When she was in high school, an introductory call from
a local Lawrence student helped her to make her decision to attend. Amy believes
a personal touch and plenty of one-on-one guidance is the key to negotiating the
path to (and through) college! She remembers college as one of the most important
times in her life and enjoys helping students as they move toward college. After
college, and while working as a paralegal for a Chicago law firm, she volunteered
as a tutor and mentor for homeless youth. It was this experience that gave her
the passion for helping students to get the most out of their lives and encouraged
her to pursue a career in education. As
no life is complete without some free time, Amy spends hers playing beach volleyball,
biking along Chicagos lakefront, exploring the citys great neighborhoods,
eating out and reading at home.
