Caroline Sekula
Educational Consultant
Caroline
Sekula graduated from Boston College in 2001 with degrees in English and
Philosophy. As an incoming freshman, she was invited to join the College
of Arts and Sciences honors program. At BC, she was an active member of
Campus Ministry and spent many hours tutoring in neighborhood centers.
She participated in several volunteer trips to the Appalachian region
during spring breaks and spent part of one summer teaching in the Dominican
Republic. These experiences, combined with years of charismatic teachers
and a strong belief in education (instilled by her wonderful parents!),
led her to the teaching field.
After college,
Caroline spent two years as a volunteer teacher in San Diego through Americorps
and earned her teaching certificate at the University of San Diego. But
after two years of perfect weather, she realized she missed shoveling
her car out of the snow and going to Dunkin Donuts. So she returned to
Boston to pursue an M.Ed. (with a concentration in English) as a Donovan
Scholar at Boston College. She graduated in 2004.
Since earning
her M.Ed., Caroline has been teaching high school English in the Boston
area. As a senior English teacher, she relives the exciting, finger-crossing
days of SATs and college essays. She enjoys reading, running, and visiting
family and friends in her native Texas.
