Ed Koziarski

A Chicago native, Ed attended Morgan Park High School and graduated from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Illinois in 1993.  He studied journalism and literature at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, earning his BA in 1997.  While at Antioch, Ed worked in research and editorial for the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Community Media Workshop, and the Dayton Voice newspaper.  After graduation, Ed returned to Chicago and worked as a police reporter for the Elgin office of the Daily Herald.  Then he spent three years working in public relations for CAN TV, Chicago’s public access television station.  In 2001 he struck out on his own to work as a freelance film producer and writer.  He has written about film for publications including the Chicago Reader, New City, the Daily Southtown, PerformInk and ReelChicago.  Ed has worked in production on numerous independent films, including as line producer on the 2007 A&E release Street Thief.  With his wife Junko Kajino, Ed made the short film Homesick Blues, a selection of the Chicago and Hawaii international film festivals and winner of the IFP/Chicago Film Festival.  Ed and Junko are in post-production on their debut feature film as a writer-producer-director producer team, The First Breath of Tengan Rei, filmed in Okinawa and Chicago.  Ed has taught film classes, as an instructor at Chicago Filmmakers and as a guest lecturer at Columbia College Chicago.  He is also an avid cyclist, runner, tennis player and dog owner.
