Jackie Mazzarella
Educational Consultant

Jackie is a recent graduate of the University of California, San Diego where she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Theatre.  In her past, she graduated 3rd in her class of over 600 in high school and broke her parents' hearts by turning down her place at UC Berkeley for one at a university eight hours away that revered Dr. Seuss.  Though trained as an actor, while at UCSD she had the opportunity to try every aspect of the field and found her niche in academic theatre.  She has always been interested in the influence social issues and traditions have in shaping a culture's theatre and is planning to attend graduate school to continue her research in this vein.  Ultimately, she hopes to become a college professor of theatre history and performance dynamics, introducing her burning passion to a limitless captive audience of students and fueling a firey attention in their hearts like only a hard grader that gives no extra credit can.

She enjoys picking up new hobbies to try, fail, and try again in an endless cycle of optimism that might be annoying if it wasn't so obviously, endearingly misguided.  Currently, these hobbies include playing the ukulele, creating art (using charcol, pastels, watercolor, traditional Chinese brush painting and recently, digital art) and underutilizing her fancy camera.  She loves travel and is happiest when utterly embarrassed in other countries or languages (usually both at the same time)--which fortunately happens often.  She is saving up to go abroad again soon and in the meantime works two other jobs in addition to tutoring: one as a secretary with other office drones and another as a weekly art teacher for elementary school children.  Both jobs have her convinced aliens large and small (especially small) walk among us.
