Maya Severns
Educational Consultant

Maya Severns graduated from Haverford College in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature and French and a minor in Latin. She spent the following year teaching English in two elementary schools in Paris, France. After returning to the U.S., she studied classics at the University of Pennsylvania for a year in their post-bac program while teaching drama and film studies to 6th and 7th graders in the Bronx at the Urban Assembly School for Applied Math and Science. Maya taught French to 7th and 8th graders at the same school this past year. She is joining the faculty of the Hyde Leadership Charter School in September, where she will teach Latin to 6th and 7th graders. She is currently working toward her Master of Arts in Adolescent Education and French at Hunter College.

Maya has been a private tutor since high school, helping students to perfect their skills in a variety of subject areas. She has worked with students of all ages, from elementary school students through adults.

In her spare time, Maya is an avid reader. She also designs and creates jewelry professionally and loves to sing, dance, act, and bake.
