With a BA in Mathematics and Psychology from Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia, Pauline has devoted a great deal of study to the learning process. She has been a teacher of adults and children of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Having studied and worked at small, private colleges and large universities, she has learned that where you go to school is not as important as what you do once you are there. She has been a private tutor for mainstream and learning disabled students, and managed a non-profit math tutoring program for disadvantaged youth. Pauline whole-heartedly believes that learning and test-preparation can be, and should be, fun -- the more enjoyable the experience, the higher the learning curve. Working with math-phobic students is one of her specialties. Previous professional adventures have included magazine editorial management, desktop publishing, Cued Speech transliteration for the hearing impaired, and management of a personal responsibitlity/substance abuse prevention program for the US Navy.
