Rebecca Hood
Educational Consultant
Rebecca Hood
grew up in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Alabama. In 2000, she graduated
magna cum laude from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree
in history. After college, she worked as a research assistant at the Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers
Project at Stanford University. At the King Papers, she collaborated with
representatives of the Oakland Unified School District to design curriculum
for elementary, junior high and high school students.
In 2001,
Rebecca received a full fellowship to attend the University of California,
Los Angeles. She enrolled in the joint M.A./ Ph.D. program in history
with the goal of becoming a professor of American history. While pursuing
her degree, she worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduates in UCLAs
history department, teaching forty students per quarter. She also worked
one-on-one with UCLA students to improve their critical reading, research
and writing skills. In addition, she volunteered as a tutor for incarcerated
youth at a detention facility near Malibu, CA.
Rebecca graduated
summa cum laude from UCLA in 2003 with a Masters degree in history.
She is currently exploring academic programs in the health sciences.
